The path a courier actually takes
Five stages, in order. A delay in any one of them looks like “the courier is slow” on a tracking page.
- Origin. You drop off at Unit 4 or we pick up in the Lower Mainland. Incomplete address here is still a problem over there.
- Export. Canada lets the carton leave. Restricted goods and fiction on the invoice fail here or later — not because 80 Avenue had traffic.
- Linehaul. Usually a flight. A quiet scan overnight can mean the box is in the air. It is not a lost carton yet.
- Destination customs. Officers read the list you wrote. The receiver’s phone has to work. FineEx cannot waive that office.
- Last-mile. A barangay, a UK postcode, an India PIN, an NZ Rural Delivery — the local courier still needs a door and a name.

Express and economy are products, not moods
Express on DHL or FedEx buys days on eligible lanes — often about 3–7 business days door-to-door, city and customs depending. Into major Indian cities, express is often about 3–6. That is a working estimate with your quote, not overnight to every street.
Economy buys money back when the receiver can wait. DTDC to India is the named value lane at this counter (~5–10 business days when that product fits). Meest is selected Eastern Europe, confirmed first — not a worldwide cheap stamp. Other countries may only have express products we can book. Three jobs that should not share one invoice story
Documents are light and usually express — certificates, contracts, a university pack. Bring the postcode and a phone. Family cartons need a real item list; clothes and allowed household goods are the everyday yes when declared. Commercial samples need this week’s SKU, not last month’s “present.” Mixing them is how a hold starts.
